You’ll likely never hear anyone comparing  the UAE to Alaska, for obvious reasons!

But that’s exactly what the country felt like in 2003 for then 25-year-old Umur Ahmet DUYMAZ, Industrial Engineer and current GM of Orgadata.

“That first instant I put my bag-pack on and hit the UAE market is still for me a moment frozen in time,” laughs Umur.

“When we started the Middle East operation, it was like braving a new Alaskan frontier in search for gold, because we had no direction, presence, or customers, but we’re on the right track now.”

Umur has conquered quite some territory with his company since then managing 3 sister companies Turkei, UAE and India, enjoying strong market penetration in 28 countries regionally, including the UAE, Saudi, Bahrain and Qatar.

Orgadata, a  German based  software company,  develops software solutions for window, door and facade construction LogiKal is and easy to understand window, door and curtain wall construction software program specifically for aluminium and steel fabricators and it provides the databases of numerous well-known architectural profile system suppliers.

“LogiKal is a market leading software 25 years in the making, and we now have more than 500 licenses running in the ME, 1000 in Turkey and more than 20,000 worldwide” said Umur. “When a customer comes to us and asks us what we are doing, we say ‘we sell time’.”

In simple terms, metal fabricators, who normally would have to decipher product catalogues to produce door, window and curtain wall profiles, now only press a button, without really needing to know how to operate the system.

“LogiKal comes with top German engineering thinking and clients are buying an imbedded readymade experience,” said Umur.

“Selling time is not  only about  speed of  production,  but also saving the client the time it takes to redo mistakes, do estimations, and allows savings on materials, and on the costs of making erroneous conclusions.”

Orgadata rents the software, but  not before developing it and keeping it up-to-date, and in sync with up to the minute architectural systems.

“We have a large group of experts in the company upgrading architectural systems for windows, doors and facades and this is how we are different from competition,” explains Umur.

The software renting option at an average of 1000 dirhams per month is another appealing feature of the product.

“As long as our clients earn, we earn; it’s that flexible,” said Umur.

“We don’t go telling the client that this will cost them hundreds of thousands of Euros, but instead they can stop using it when the job is over, 3, 6 or 12 months down the road.”

In 2015, Orgadata made it so that LogiKal has an interface with BIM 3D modelling, so that any changes in BIM designs are easily reflected in LogiKal.

“BIM will eventually be as easy as sending email so we had to introduce an interface for LogiKal and BIM to talk to each other.”

As one of five founding members of the inaugural Windows, Doors and Façades (WDF) Event taking place at the Dubai World Trade Centre, September 18-20, 2016, Orgadata will have a 70 m2 stand there.

“While we’ve been happily exhibiting at the Big 5 since 2003, having a dedicated WDF show is a very interesting proposition knowing that it’s a common trend in Europe,” said Umur.

The company is there to also demonstrate its newest module: The Info Server.

“It’s  about controlling the production. It’s not like an ERP software telling fabricators what to stock and how to process, but rather to monitor the entire fabrication process,” explains Umur.

“So the fabricator can see on one monitor at what level is the project, how much was produced and how much more is left.” Orgadata will be co-exhibiting with two other companies, Cad Plan and Priedemann.

Cad Plan is an engineering software company for designers, focusing on façades, and enabling stress analysis, thermal calculations, and concept drawings, while Priedemann are building envelope consultants and facade engineers.

Orgadata Middle East is a 1.5 million to 2 million Euro a year company.

“It doesn’t sound like a lot but we want to keep the scale manageable,” says Umur.

“While we can easily come up with many different software solutions for other than WDFs and thus expand our target market, we like keeping things simple and short, we go with the German mentality of ‘Do one thing you do well, over and over again’.”

It’s a LogiKal philosophy and it makes sense.
